DORU-1 vs manual pre-launch review: which catches what

By Spear Systems · 2 min read ·

Short version: manual review is free and catches obvious issues; automated review is faster and more consistent on classifier-shaped patterns like personal-attributes wording. They cover different failure modes — use both, not either/or.

What DORU-1 does

DORU-1 reviews image and video creatives for attention and message signals plus advisory policy findings, then suggests edits. Reports usually appear in about two minutes. One-time packs (Starter 3 reviews $49 for new organizations, then 10/$200, 25/$500, 100/$2000), no subscription, credits never expire. Format shown in the public sample report — one MEDIUM personal-attributes flag with a suggested rewrite. Full scope: what a review checks.

What manual review does

A disciplined pre-flight pass — read the cited-policy families, run the rewrite rules, align the landing page (checklist) — catches most issues at zero cost. Its limits: speed (minutes per ad becomes hours per campaign), consistency (reviewers drift; classifiers don’t), and blindness to wording patterns the reviewer hasn’t been burned by yet.

Limits on both sides

DORU-1 findings are advisory: no CTR/ROAS prediction, and a clean report means no issue was flagged in that review — not compliance established, not approval guaranteed. Manual review has no such disclaimer problem because it promises nothing at all, but it also produces no record and no suggested rewrite.

The practical setup

Manual checklist as the always-on gate; DORU-1 as the pre-launch pass on final creative, especially paid social where one rejected ad costs days. When rejections happen anyway, the hub guide covers the fix-or-appeal decision.
